Is Your Church Prepared and Ready?

Let’s spend a few moments looking at what “Changed America” looks like:

I keep wondering if the New Testament community is fully prepared and ready for what is coming. I keep wondering how in the world, the ‘Church’ is going to manage when energy trading platforms, food distribution and safety (think rationing) regulations, thought and correctness restrictions and most severe of all—religious litigations start occurring with expanded and impacting frequencies—start knocking down comfort and confidence levels for average believers. I keep pushing the bounds of the ‘today’ and the ‘now’ and daring to look into the new horizons as they arrive and keep asking, ‘how in the world is the Church going to respond? How do we who care about such things help local congregations prepare and ready their thinking and practices?

Those that are close to me, tell me from time-to-time that none of this is my responsibility. I am reminded to mind my own manners and to attend to my own business. The Church will be fine they squeal at me. The Church will always find a way to survive. The Church will have its place in the next history, no matter what it might be or look like. I cringe when I hear these words. For some reason, God has placed upon me the mantle to study such matters and to be one of his many voices that are crying out for the Church and its redeemed peoples to begin right now to prepare and to ready themselves for the now arriving changed America.

Let’s spend a few moments looking at what “Changed America” looks like:

  1. Energy Trading Platforms: if you are unaware of what these are, that is fine, but soon and very soon, you and your local congregation will be very intimately connected with these measuring instruments. What these mean for you as an individual and your congregation is going to be vexing. In common language ‘energy units’ are going to be parceled out to both individuals and to ‘churches’. What this means is that your driving, usage and of course your gathering carbon footprints are going to be severely crunched in rapid order
  2. Food Distribution and Safety Regulations: if you are unaware of what these are, that too is fine, but soon and very soon you and your local congregation are going to be intimately acquainted with a variety of food ‘couponing’ concepts. You should begin to think about the “R” word. Because although this will not ever be invoked in your hearing, ‘Rationing’ is soon to become a part of your daily provisioning. Bah! You say! I wish I were in fact making these things up
  3. Religious Litigations: these are expanding and soon their frequency and their impacting and stifling fully intended consequences will fall upon and darken your local congregations’ doors.  I am not a prophet of doom. America is changed. Religious freedoms and certainly freedom of thought and assembly are right now being challenged. The very gospel message that we hold to be dear and sacred is being cannibalized, marginalized and soon entire sections of our, what is now ‘protected’ speech and thought will be in full or part, criminalized
